Sarasota Child Custody Lawyer

Florida Parenting Plan Attorney

In Florida, child custody and visitation matters are now classified as time-sharing, or shared parental responsibility. I provide comprehensive, effective parental time-sharing representation. As a dedicated Sarasota child custody attorney, I understand the emotional effects created by custody issues. When both parents cannot agree on parenting plans, families can become torn. I evaluate every case based on the best interests of the children.

Fathers have rights to custody. Contact my law firm today at 941-328-8428 or toll free at 888-686-8443 for a free consultation.

At Avila Family Law Office, I represent mothers and fathers pursuing time-sharing and parenting plan resolutions. With 15 years of experience as a divorce lawyer, I understand the different types of time-sharing provided under Florida law. I discuss my clients' goals and concerns. I understand that many fathers feel that the court favors mothers. That is not true. Time-sharing is not based on traditional child-rearing beliefs. I have extensive experience helping fathers achieve their goals.

Time-Sharing Issues

I understand the different kinds of time-sharing options available under the law. I provide guidance for:

  • Regular time-sharing. This plan is when both parents live in the same vicinity. Each parent is authorized to make important decisions for their child, including religion, schooling and medical treatment. The goal is to keep the parents out of court and for everyone to get along.
  • Safety-focused time-sharing. When issues regarding domestic abuse or issues of alcohol/drug abuse exist, safety-focused time-sharing occurs. Typically, in these situations, a judge orders supervised visitation after hearing evidence of why regular time-sharing is not in the best interest of the children.
  • Long-distance time-sharing. This type of time-sharing is also known as relocation or long-term sharing. If a parent relocates more than 50 miles away from the other parent, the court recognizes that one parent loses substantial access to the child. Scheduling solutions can include spring break, summers and additional holidays or weekends.

I have handled hundreds of custody cases throughout my 15 years of representing mothers and fathers with their contested and uncontested divorce cases. I am dedicated to protecting my clients' rights at every stage of their cases.
